Injuries: How they affect your body and your game

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

Most athletes think an injury “just happens.” However, did you know that the onset of an injury is the actual “breaking point” in the body, typically because you haven’t been paying attention to what your body is saying to you?

For an injury to occur one of three things are usually going wrong; you are over training, training incorrectly or both! Our bodies are like trees; our “trunk” or core has to be strong so that our limbs can be fluid and mobile. Athletic biomechanics are vitally important to correspond with a strong core. This means not just doing an exercise, but doing all exercises in your training process correctly and consistently! Most of the time athletes don’t understand how to train properly and tend to get frustrated continuing to do the same thing over and over.

What you don’t know is that sprained ankle or rotator cuff injury doesn’t just affect that injured area, but your entire body. Your recovery time then takes longer and if not treated properly and at the source it becomes a chronic issue affecting your body and your game.
